Climate relevance depends on what supply a project replaces, network losses, operating profile, fuel or resource and the boundaries used for measurement.
Renewable generation
Renewables can expand lower-carbon supply where resource, land, interconnection and commercial conditions support dependable operation.
Efficiency and losses
Improving equipment efficiency, reducing technical losses and managing demand can create material system benefits alongside new generation.
Electrification and grid capability
More electrified loads can increase the need for network investment, protection, control and new generation. Transition planning must include the grid.
Physical climate resilience
Heat, flooding, storms, water availability and other hazards can affect site access, equipment performance and infrastructure life.
