Establish the baseline

Site conditions and sensitive receptors need to be understood before impact and mitigation can be judged.

Avoid before mitigating

Where practical, project design should first avoid material impacts, then minimise and manage what remains.

Construction matters

Erosion, drainage, dust, noise, waste, fuel handling and traffic can create significant effects even on projects with low operational emissions.

Operational controls

Waste streams, oils, chemicals, water use, vegetation management and equipment maintenance require ongoing procedures and records.

Biodiversity and land

Habitat, access roads, transmission corridors and land-use change can be material depending on location and should be addressed proportionately.

End of life

Panels, batteries, oils, transformers and other equipment create future reuse, recycling or disposal obligations that should be considered early.

Public claims

Environmental statements should be supported by project evidence. Technology type alone is not enough to quantify a benefit.
